Rice Beer

[Jason and Melissa Nulton]

I saw an ad for Budweiser saying they use the best barley and hops. I
didn't think they used barley. Don't they use rice instead? Is this false
advertising?

They use a percentage of barley and rice. I am not sure of the specs, but it
must be close to 50/50.

You cannot brew beer from rice only, as you need some enzymes that are in
malted barley to ferment rice. Bud is reputed to contain 30% rice, could sound
to be pretty little, but just think of the savings it means at the end of the
day.
As a comparison, it only takes about 15% special malts to ensure a stout is a
stout...
