Brand beer

Was wondering what ever happened to Brand beer. Does anyone know if they
went under, they stopped importing, or if my local liquor stores are just
not interested in selling it. Thanks in advance for your response.

BRAND still exists, but is taken over by Heineken a few years ago. I think
this means that the distribution channels for BRAND has chanched.

They've been taken over by Heineken some 10 years ago or so. First Heineken
took the words 'royal' (in dutch: 'koninklijk') of the bottle. Brand may
still use this title by law and they are still the only one (in the
Netherlands) who have this title as a brewery.
And since a couple of years they stopped the production and export of 'the
cool white bottle', which was the Brand beer you could by in the states.
Heineken believed it to be a serious competitor of their own Heineken.

Brand beer still exists and is still brewed in the same brewery (Wijlre,
the Netherlands). But the whole distribution is done by Heineken nowadays.

So if you are ever coming to the Netherlands you'll be able to enjoy this
beer again.:-)
