So I ask all of you, why only the Mexican bottles? Why only Tecate?
Mc Ewans Draught is still the best!
Bruce
While I have never seen Tecate bottles with the bottle cap impression on the
bottom, the first beer bottles I saw with that nifty trick was "Glacier Bay"-
a Canadian beer that was pretty decent, and about 6-7 dollars for a twack.
(That's twelve pack). Now it is called "Arctic Bay" and no longer has the nifty
bottoms. WHen it was Glacier Bay this beer was a lot of fun for the nifty
bottle opener on the bottom, but there was a trade off- you only got 11.5
ounces of beer, according to the (very fine) print.

Somebody else *has* thought of this: the megabrewers in Canada, or at least
in British Columbia. Yes, one can drink Molson after Molson from cases
purchased at a BC Liquor store or hotel-based "cold beer" shop . The
bottom of one bottle has the indentation for twisting off the cap of the
next bottle. Whoppee. I guess it beats putting a better-tasting product
*in* the bottle, unless one likes pouring mediocre industrial lager down
one's throat - which happens to be the case with over 99% of beer sold in
Canada and the USA. They aren't called "megabrewers" for nuttin'.

I will ask once again. Why is it that Tecate is the only beer with the
imprint of the bottle cap in the BOTTOM of the bottle? And why only in
Mexico?
Cheers,
Bruce

I've had many a Tecate, and like you, I don't know why they only
have those bottles only in Mexico. The ones I've picked up in
Nuevo Laredo were in brown bottles, the bottle was shaped rather
like a small barrel. In case you haven't noticed, if you have
*two* of these bottles, the bottom of one may be used to pop
the top of the other. That imprint of a bottle cap on the
bottom is an opener. Quite a clever idea.

The inprint could be to open another bottle? I doubt this as they are
not twist offs but this is the only thing I could think of.
Tecate sells a large bottle of the 32 oz variety in Mex that is
called a Cajuama, large turtle, which is a stronger beer that is
popular as it is easy to deal with and costs very little after the
deposit. There are no inprints in these bottles. I think you are
refering to the 12 oz version which may be for export only as they
tend to sell cans or Cajuamas domestically.
