Malt Advocate is honored to publish his eulogy next issue, provided to us by

Booker's funeral.
Go with God, Booker; I'm sure he's got whiskey waiting for you.

Sad news. My impression was that he was a big driver behind the whole
"small-batch" movement and the increasing respectibility of bourbon as
quality beverage. It's always tough on an industry when one of its
best-known spokesmen goes.

Just goes to show that bourbon drinkers are a serene, gentlemanly lot,
almost as much as beer lovers.
( Latter a little joke ! )

I've always wondered: if he is Jim Beam's grandson, why isn't his name
Booker Beam?
Because when daughters marry, their children have a different surname.
vince norris
Right: Booker was the son of one of Jim's daughters, Margaret, who married
Frederick Booker Noe. Booker was their son, and his son, Freddie Noe, is
named for his grandfather.
There are other Beams working in the business. Parker Beam and his son Craig
are the master distillers at Heaven Hill (every drop of Heaven Hill has been
distilled by a Beam, something Jim Beam can't say anymore); the distiller at
Michter's was a Beam. Toddy Beam owns a liquor store in Bardstown (great for
finding odd bottlings you may not find elsewhere).
