I have a trivia question I thought I'd ask this newsgroup.  What Brewery made Billy Beer and for how many years was it in manufacturing/processing and what years did it start and end processing?  Any help or direction to ask someone else would be greatly appreciated.

Jaime,

You are partially right. Actually, Billy Beer was brewed under contract by
(I believe) 5 different brewers across the country.

Falls City was one. The West End B.C* out of Utica NY was another.
Unfortunately I traded off my other old Billy Beer cans to an Australian can
collector last month. Each can was brewed and canned at a different plant.

I recently saw some FOOL trying to sell a Billy can for $500.00 on eBay.
It's worth more now for the recyclable aluminum its made of than the can
itself.

No serious can collector would give it a Billy can a second thought. Sort of
like Duff's (The Simpson's) Beer in Australia. Worthless there.

Cheers!
Robert~

* Was West End B.C. another name for FX Matt/Utica Club?

Not at first. Mount Carbon was a separate brewery, Yuengling bought them
out and bottled under that label. Not sure, but I'd be willing to bet it
was Yuengling Premium in the bottle.

Thgis was the late 70's I think, the story I always heard back then was that it
(Bavarian) was actually the same as Yuengling's budget brand of that time, Old
German. --Ken

Ah, Old German. I consider the death of Old German to be THE most
pleasant side-effect of the Great Yuengling Boom. No time to brew the
shite, what a pity...

Did they stop making it after the Simpsons' creators (or whoever owns
the rights to "The Simpsons" TV show sued them? Just curious.

That I don't know, but I have an Aussie friend who collects cans. He sells
the Duff cans on eBay and they $$$ell for a lot. But, in OZ they are
available CHEAP.
