I'm OK. Coming to the end of a mildish winter here in Canberra.

Just to make everyone eat their hearts out, I must report that I've just
come home from a Don McLean concert, the first live concert I've attended
since I went deaf, lo these many long years ago (nearly 40 years, at
least). Cochlear implants worked beautifully. McLean was excellent.

Well I'll put in my $0.02 worth. All is much the same as ever with me. Mum is steaming along towards 103 in December. On Friday she didn't recognise me, but she enjoyed the whole tub of yoghurt that I fed to her. Every morning I expect to get a phone call at 6am, telling me she's slipped away, but in fact I think she's very happy, so she feels no need to leave us just yet.

I'm still teaching English to the Vietnamese Sisters at Mum's nursing home, and I enjoy that very much. Most times I also have lunch in the convent, and even though I occasionally find the home-style Cantonese-Vietnamese food a bit of a challenge, it's always interesting. The chicken feet soup can be very tasty, but I'm afraid I can't manage the chicken feet themselves.

This is my second year as secretary for Musica Viva, and next year I'll withdraw from the committee, though I'll continue to do voluntary work for them. I'm looking forward to the Angela Hewitt concert on October 2, and we have the Academy of Ancient Music coming from London in November, and that will be a wonderful concert.

www.chalkitup.org today

I may take some needlework and do a stitch in public, since it's an
artsy event.

Tomorrow,
http://crockerartmuseum.org/art-1470832785/upcoming-exhibitions/803-folding-paper-the-infinite-possibilities-of-origami&h=hAQFwPtH6

Again, may do a stitch in public.

Stitching in public is a great idea. Some may know that a while ago I got into crochet. I used to look at all the lovely crocheted afghans in Mum's nursing home, and I thought I'd like to make one for her. So I went to a yarn store and learnt how to make a granny square. The afghan I made for Mum was such a success that I didn't stop, and because I spend a lot of time on the bus, crochet is a perfect thing to do - as long as the driver doesn't jerk the bus around too much.

Coming in late on this topic!

I haven't checked alt.beenz for quite awhile because, for some reason,
eternal september didn't notify me I had messages!

BUT...I've been a bit busy since last month. My DD, Mandy, got married
on 8/31, so I was concentrating on wedding issues.

She was gorgeous (if I do say so myself! lol) and her new husband was
quite spiffy in his tux! The weather cooperated to some extent (85F as
opposed to the originally predicted 95!), which helped a lot. The
reception went very well, too.

I have 2 pics uploaded into my shutterfly account (below) and will let
you know when others are there, for anyone who is interested.
