So I pointed Chrome to both those URLs (which resolve to the same IP).

I registered with my email address & they sent a verification code.
https://rocksolidbbs.com/common/register.php & now I have a user/password.

Now what?

I read their FAQ but it doesn't say how to post to this newsgroup with it.
https://rocksolidbbs.com/common/faq.txt

I looked for port addresses (such as news.rocksolidbbs:563 or something).
In their forums I found mention of an "i2p" address in this thread.
https://rocksolidbbs.com/rocksolid/article-flat.php?id=597&group=rocksolid.shared.general#597

A typical message in that thread is reproduced below.
"The server you need to connect to is the inn server here:
cm6lpd....3hcq.b32.i2p" (the dots make it useless for me)

Where the dots obviously obscure the actual server address.
But even if I did have the full server address, what do I do next?

I googled for I2P software on Windows and the main link seems to be
https://geti2p.net/en/download

And since I never heard of I2P I had to look it up where this says it's
similar to TOR but it's using hidden services eatsites which end with the
dot i2p using a "garlic" routing which makes everyone the routing hosts.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhG29riqVUE

Now that I know a little bit about what i2p is, I still don't know how to
post to this a.f.n newsgroup using that rocksolidbbs account they gave me.

Is there just some address such as rocksolidbbs:563 with my new user/pass
that I can set my newsreader to so that I can post to this a.f.n newsgroup?

Get client address instructions here:

http://novabbs.org/common/nodelist.php

Username should be email address.

The "official" failed RAID AIOE story doesn't hold much water. I'm thinking they were shut down, because everything went offline, web and all.

I use ES, and it just works, but the groups are limited though. I recently sprang for a NewsDemon account, and headers aren't updating properly there, and it's depressing to see just how many groups are straight up dead or full of spam.

I'm probably going to just close it out and stick with ES until that goes offline too.

I've got individual.net pretty cheap and does the job, not a lot of SPAM I
found in the feed (other than dead groups)
