Hello All.

May be a crazy question, but is there a version of Synchronet that runs
natively under OS/2?

Best regards,
Marc

It is painfully evident that there is a fault somewhere in my system as it
has been posting duplictes of my original message. Once again I will
unlink the system from alt.bbs.synchronet. Fortunately, the ALT-BBS-
SYNCHRONET Fidonet echo was NOT lnked to anyone other than my system.

Apologies for the 4 duplicate posts.

Got it. Now I wonder if it would be possible to commpile the current V3.2
source code to run under OS/2? (I know - probably not, but thought I'd ask
anyway. <g> )

It's certainly not something I intend to try or support. The first question to answer would be: can the JavaScript engine and Crypto (SSH/TLS) engine that Synchronet relies upon be built for OS/2 and I'm pretty sure that answer is no. And getting those ported to OS/2 would be likely much harder than porting Synchronet itself. You could probably build a version of Synchronet without those features (JS, TLS/SSL) on OS/2, but it would take a very motivated C/C++ programmer (and OS/2 lover - AKA, not me) to take on such a task.

So... not impossible, but highly improbable.

Thanks, Rob. I know 1 particularly talented C++ programmer; I'll ask if
he's willing to have a go at it. If he won't I know one lady that's been
programming for over 2 decades now - maybe she might take a shot at it.
Should be interesting. :-)
