Here's a strange question for everyone out there.

I played Solar Realms Elite (SRE) frequently as a kid inthe early 1990s. As
best I can recall, almost every instance of the game that I played back then
had an ANSI title screen featuring a space ship near an Earth-like planet, and
big gray letters saying "SRE". You can see the screen I'm describing here:

Anyway, I wanted to make a new screen capture of that title screen for my BBS
wiki "Break Into Chat." So I started telnetting to loads of present-day BBSes.

NONE of the SRE games I tried feature this title screen. Instead, they had a
simple color text title screen (I was familiar with this one as well, but I
don't recall it being the prevalent one when I was kid).

I asked Amit Patel, the game's author, about it. He said the fancy ANSI title
screen was never part of his official SRE distributions. Someone else must have
made it, he said.

I checked a bunch of SRE versions that I grabbed from some BBS file archives
and confirmed that the ANSI wasn't in any of them.

So now I am really puzzled. Who drew this screen? Where did it come from? Was
it just a St. Louis thing?

It may have been included with an SRE "flavor," though none of the flavors I
have looked through so far have this screen.

Anyone able to shed light on this?
