I understand that I need to test out the choices that I make and find what I
feel comfortable with, and one that I like in my price range (CDN $350-450)
is a Schecter (sorry, don't know the model but I think it's in the Stiletto
Series), and another is an Ibanez. I think I like the feel of the Schecter a
little better, but I know nothing about them? And, I don't want to believe
everything that the salesman says without a little validation.
Are Schecter basses decent/reliable in general? Or all things being equal
would the Ibanez (which I like too!) be a better investment?
I'm not planning on touring any time soon, I have to take some lessons, learn
to play, but I'm looking for one that will last.
Thanks
go to long & McQuaide or Tom Lee.
Both have knowleadgeable reps, and wont try too hard to sell you
something you dont need.
L&M has the lowest down payment requirement for layaway, but Tom Lee has
the best range of instruments... try not to be tempted to buy the high
end and/or collector's gear (just looking at the classics they have on
the shelves is tempting- getting to HOLD a piece in your hands....)!
also, are be specific with the dealers: you looking for 3, 4, or 5 string?
other specs?
check out various websites (ibanez, jackson, yamaha, fender), compare
features.
fwiw, yamaha and fender have good entry level guitars, and both make
beginner's kits (guitar, cube amp, case, cord, etc).
