's about time. ;). Seriously, great job!
Reading the "CGIab4d" section, I realize that you are quite right, ab4d
has been banned from all but 33% of servers globally, the reasons are
quite valid.
Could this be a Lyran plot? Seriously. Could the Lyran Corporation[tm]
be quietly trying to stifle this NG from existance?

Thanks, appreciate it. :)

Actually, ab4d's propagation has dropped steadily because of
sysadmins who are still concerned about name-space for newsgroups and the
occasional klewless rmgrouper who arbitrarily decides to delete a
"Swedish Chef" newgroups, not realizing we are the /original/ prototype. :)
On a technical note: most news servers on UseNet are Dave Barr's
INN which uses a hierarchical directory structure that matches newsgroup
names. For example, ab4d would be
/var/spool/news/alt/barney/dinosaur/die/die/die/ with each article stored
as a file in this directory. Or news.groups would be
/var/spool/news/news/groups.
Anyway, without going into node code for Unix, having ab4d under
INN[1] consumes more resources than a "properly" named group, which can
prompt some sysadmins not to carry it[2]. I'm also not too optimistic
about UseNet's future[3], so I'm looking at alternatives[4].
I suppose it's possible the Lyran's company cares about our
group, but I can't imagine them spending money trying to wipe us out. :)

[1]: INN Sucks. DNEWS (database news) crushes it hands-down.
[2]: Most sysadmins want to forget UseNet exists; news is a mass resource
hog and the server itself the most likely to crash in the middle of the
night and make you drive across the city to doctor it.
[3]: UseNet2 isn't something I like the flavor of for a few reasons, but
I digress.
[4]: Making my own solution seems a better option than sitting on my
butt hoping someone else gets creative.
Now what was that about The Jihad's Imminent Demise [tm] again?

Like I said before.. great job.
I was just thinking about the original page (at least the one they had
when I joined). It was at armory.com, it had a red background, and had a
link to the blue ribbon campaign. Anyway, I was thinking, why not put it
up on jihad.net for historical purposes? It'd be interesting to see how
far the page has gone. Just an idea.

Thank ewe. :) Everyone involved in the project did a fair
amount of work on it. %)

That's an idea ... history section, even. :)
*grabs copies of the ntr.net page as well as the archives of
the original pages*
They'll get added in on the next update cycle of the pages. :)

The J.I.D.(tm) is well on schedule. First, everyone gets really excited
and productive, then um, membership goes through the roof and um, right,
then lots of ops get written and people have lots and lots of fun, see,
and um, well, okay, so maybe it might be postponed for a bit but still,
ever notice that DLtF is an anagram for... um... FtLD... which means...
oh fine.
nice going, DL.

Yeah! I wonder, do you keep copies of the really old FAQs around? I'd love
to see the earliest one in existance.
