Barney rides the elevator

Barney the Dinosaur embarks on an adventure by taking a ride in an underground parking garage elevator "Oh don't worry kids, we have a few hours before the hurricane makes landfall."

Barney then rides the elevator when there is a bang, a jolt, and a flicker, and the cab slowly decends down past the lowest underground level and comes to rest at the bottom of the shaft. Because of mismatched construction plans between the shaft and the garage that was supposed to have a 4th underground level that was never built, the bottom of the shaft is deeper than normal to accomodate the non existent level. The roof hatch is sealed from the outside to stop potential vandalism and elevator surfing related lawsuits, and the doors open up to a blank concrete wall.

Several hours after Barney tries to get "Mister Elevator Repair Man" to come help him out his quagmire over the non working emergency phone, and ringing the bell no one hears because everyone had evacuated, the Cat-5 hurricane makes landfall. All power goes out, and Barney soon feels something wet on his feet. The elevator is filling with water, and the level soon gets up to his chin, and then all the way to the top of the cab and beyond.

2 days after the hurricane passed, they are still pumping out the completely submerged underground parking and not long after they find Barney's bloated purple corpse in the steel elevator cab.
