I want to hang a few banjos on the wall. Should be simple, a good
picture hook and something on the banjo, so that I can take them down a
play them easily.

Any ideas on what to attach to the banjo which will not damage it or the
wall, and keep it in tune?

These are relatively light open back 5-strings?
Thanks,

Hank

An easy way, although not as "pretty" as one might like, is to bend a 6" piece
of a coat hanger into a hanger. The loops at the end hook under the tuning pegs
and hang the banjo. It also works for guitars by bending the hook at the end
out. (toward the room) since the pegs are different on the guitar. (at least on
mine).

It's hand to picture with out special graphics, but here goes:
^---------------top of hanger. Goes on the nail or picture hook

a rain gutter nail about 10 inches long put right through the head,
through the resonator and in a good wall stud works every time!!!!!!

A simelar way is to make a "Loop" of strong cord "loop" it in front
of the peghead with the sides arond the back and under the pegs then the loop
over a strong hanger.

There are nice looking expensive all wood hangers designed especially for
this purpose and sold by the companies that put ot their catalogs to sell
such items. Check with them and don't you dare hang an Unger on a coat
hanger. ouch

If you're hanging a $1000 instrument on the wall -- and you live in a
seismically active area -- give this some thought ("seismically active
areas" include anyplace with children, dogs, etc.).

Just make sure it'll hold about 10 times the weight of the banjo, OK?

I put a monster eye bolt into a stud with a stout nylon loop that goes
around the peg head.
