can't get into burning wizard inn

I cannot get in to the burning wizard inn, and Garrick (who is blocking the
door) says nothing. I thought this was a game bug that was supposed to be
corrected by the most recent patch. Well, I installed it..twice. Garrick
still blocks the Burning Wizard Inn door. I have cast a sleep spell on him,
but he still blocks the door. Is killing him the only way? (it would ruin my
parties reputation).

Well, either that, or get Polymorph Other spell. I think you can buy in
Baldur's Gate. Sorcerous Sundries I believe. Or you can use the console to
make a scroll. It's "scrl5p" or something.

It's just a map fault; I whacked him in broad daylight and it had no affect on
my party's rep (20) at all.

It will only solve this bug if you install it BEFORE Garrick has
blocked the entrance.

No. The simplest way is charming him and then move him out of the way.

Take him in the group (leave Imoen) walk to the side of the map and dump
him. Pick up Imoen again.

Even shorter, agree to take him into the group and on the character
removal screen choose Garrick to remove. He thinks he has been part of
the team and walks out of the doorway.

I had this problem too.
You have two choices, kill him or charm him.

I installed the patch before I ever even played the game.
