mathieu.
Bonjour Helene,
Ah well, Nimbul is not so powerful if you compare her with other opponents
you will
encounter in this game. If you have troubles with her I suggest you to first
go clear
some wilderness areas until your characters gains a level and then retry
your luck
against her.

Toe-to-toe, the Nimbul (he/she?) is not that hard to beat, but spells
coupled with mirror image can be quite difficult.
Use your mage to cast magic-missle -- it automatically hits the target
despite mirror image. This will prevent any the Nimbul from casting
horror, which makes things very difficult.
If you want to be particularly careful, try marching up the street
with a band of Amnish troops...they'll help you if you're attacked,
and a couple of extra targets don't hurt. :)
Best of luck,
David

RCV: Command works on him, as do any other spells. Make sure you
rest up and regain spells [the right ones, lose your cure lights and
take a few command, lose sleep and take some Magic Missiles, etc] on the
Festival map BEFORE you go back to Nashkell.
Wait at the Store until a crowd of Amnish soldiers walks up and then
move up the best AC fighter you have to trigger the combat. The
Soldiers will attack Nimbul too. Hit him with spells and ranged weapons
while he tries to get past the soldiers to attack you. He is only in
Splint armor, so you should be able to hit him... :)

The trouble with the Amnish soldiers is that they use bows and Nimbul is
wearing boots of missile avoidance. Don't use bows.
After I ran and rested I had my best fighter drink a speed potion and rush her
while the magic users cast magic missile

I'd like to ask how many people beat Nimbul in the 1st encounter? i.e. before
you knew he/she was there? Nimbul is a nasty surprise for the unwary beginner.

RCV: I did, but I was not so low level, since I did the gnoll stronghold
BEFORE I did the mines. Nimbul failed versus a Hold Person spell and the rest was
history. One thing though, spells are FAST, so don't rely upon Comp bows in the
first round, most small melee weapons are faster than a bow, so hit him with hand
held weapons to keep him from getting the Mirror Image off. Then the battle is
MUCH easier...
