> William Shatner
> Ted Danson
True, but a partial piece to cover the backof his head.
However, he's now thinning big-time in front, I believe.
> Marv Alpert
Albert, not Alpert.
> Bob Hope
No, I don't think so. Not in the past couple of decades. He DID color his
hair, however.
> Steve Martin
Still amazes me when I read this. When did he start? I once saw a
1960s/early1970s photo of him
and he definitely had a full head of dark, combed-back hair.
Of course, he MUST HAVE worn a lace-front piece in that movie he did some
years back in which his hair was slicked back lounge-lizard style.
> Paul Gleiser
Paul Reiser. Another that kinda surprises me.
> Jack Klugman
Only when working.
> Neil Diamond
Since when? I knew he was thinning-out on top for years.
> Tony Bennet
Tony Bennett has gone from his 1960s persona wearing a flat Cosell-like rug
to probably the BEST airy, natural-looking full-wig (as opposed to a hairpiece)
in the entertainment biz. He's never looked better.
> Tony Randall
One of the best in the biz. Never seen in public w/o it.
> Wayne Newton
Hmmm . . . I knew he was thinning in the 1980s and that jet-black hair color
didn't help. Then last week I saw him on tv singing from Vegas recently, and he
was definitely fuller on top. Maybe plugs?
> John Wayne *
Probably among the worst rugs in the biz.
> Steve Allen
Has also worn dreadful rugs. The rug's hair and his hair just don't match
texture-wise.
> Humphrey Bogart *
True.
> Dean Martin*
No. That was Dino's real hair.
> Bing Crosby*
True.
> Liberache *
Liberace. Wore a fine lace-front for years. Then switched to fake-looking
regular rugs. Probably tired of the upkeep lace-front pieces demand.
> Howard Cossell *
*THE* worst rug on record.
> Unconfirmed:
> Harvey Mandel
Now confirmed.
> Kevin Dobson
Looks 100% better than he did before he started wearing.
> Jack Lord
BIG, BIG "open secret." Confirmed rug wearer. The National Enquirer once
described his hair as, "The best hairpiece in the business."
ALWAYS wore a $1000+ lace-front job while working. Took to wearing big,
floppy hats while strolling on the beach in later years. Couldn't bear to let
people see him bald. A sad case. Even his biggest fans are unaware of/deny his
hairpiece use.
> Robert De Niro (moved to unconfirmed)
I can tell you, he does NOT wear a piece.
Believe it or not, that was a bald cap w/a Mohawk doo he wore in "Taxi
Driver".
> Christpher Reeves
Used to suffer from alopecia (complete bodilyhair loss), maybe still does.
Has bigger things to worry about than his hairloss.
> Kirk Douglass
No, NOT a piece.
> In the Movies:
>
> Sean Connery
Yup, well-known. Now wears one in his latest flick.
> Bruce Willis
The ugliest, stupidist piece I've ever seen. Should just wear a full piece
rather than try to make people think it's his real, "receding" hair.
Need pieces:
> Ron Howard ( Looks goofy with no hair)
Yes. At least should have his side hair cut close. Recently saw an
early-1970s episode of "Happy Days" and wondered whether he wore a rug in THAT
show. Could very well have been. His brother and father are also very bald.
> Transplants:
> Jerry Seinfeld
Sure? I know his hair is thinning greatly. As is that of his former co-star
who played "Kramer."
Here are some more rug wearers for ya:
Pat Boone ( a full wig)
Hal Fishman (tv news anchor/reader -- recently went from fake-looking
lace-front D.A. style to more modern, airy side-combed doo, looks MUCH better)
John Stossel -- ABC tv 20/20 reporter -- his once-thick dark hair was thinning
out tremendously for awhile -- you could actually see his scalp -- must have
had plugs/rugs done in recent years
Hugh Downs -- 20/20 anchor -- a pioneer in the entertainment biz many years ago
when he openly announced he'd had plugs done
Bobby Hull -- former hockey star
Jim Bouton (sp?) -- rebellious, controversial ex-Yankee and later sports
reporter who wrote "Ball Four" about his career in the major leagues -- rug and
maybe plugs too
Not that I wish to become involved in this discussion...But, back when he
was directing his tv series, "Tribeca", I saw a photograph of him in the
newspaper, and he was completely bald. If you see him lately, most of the
time he has the "obvious signs" of a rug. Look at his hair in Copland, look
at it in Maddog and Glory. As well, you can see him sans rug in The
Untouchables.
In his early films, he has a very slight recession. However, in his later
films, he has an obvious thick comb-over rug.

His brother should definately do something...everytime I see him he looks like
he had his head in a paint shaker. ///ES
just my opinion...I could be wrong
Tom Cruise -- 35 yo, and he's never lost a strand *sigh*
George Clooney -- the man started a revolution with his ER 'do.
Richard Gere -- still thicker and healthier than ever--my girlfriend likes him
better grey. arrrgg!
Andy Garcia -- this guy is a classic example of somebody who's definitely got
the androgens (hairy gorilla, heavy beard) but his scalp receptors certainly
ain't affected.
Leo DiCaprio -- opposite end of the scale. yeah, the kid's got great hair (i
think he's 24) but he looks like he's never had a single whisker in his
life...psuedohemaphrodite? =)~

I saw him with his head shaved in a press conference for Great Expectations.
He clearly had the stubble of someone with a full head of hair. Not the kind of
thing that could be faked.
As such he gains or losses weight, shaves his head, and/or wears wigs for his
roles. He has a pretty full head of hair in real life. If you have seen him
bald, wearing a rug, etc., it's because he was either preparing for a part of
coming off one.
For example, in the movie "The Untouchables", he gained a lot of weight to play
Al Capone and partially shaved his head. For a good example of his own hair,
check out the movie "Midnight Run" with Charles Grodin. Also the movie with
Robin Williams (Awake something?) where he plays a man who comes out of a coma
after 40 years.
Bobby De Niro does not wear a rug in real life. That's his hair (when it's grown
in)

You are so wrong--it's laughable. DeNiro will shave his head--wear wigs--do
anything possible for a film role. But--he has a full head of hair. Gimme a
break!!

The National Enquirer? This constitutes "proof"?
Hmmm... let's see, I asked Dave Donnelly, a Honolulu columnist who once wrote a
scathing parody called "Jack Lord, Superstar." He said no. I also asked James
MacArthur, who worked with Lord for 11 years. He said no. (This was after Lord
died.)

Admittedly, I'm sure Tom never won a five-o-clock shadow contest.

He spends over 200$ a month to keep it in... wish I could spend money
like that.
About Robert deNiro, Dan Akroyd once -jokingly- said in a European
tv-show (dunno which one) that he has all his hair still because he
used to be so heavy a coke-user...
Anyone tried using coke instead of minoxidil? ;)
