the other day i added a new drive to my system & dutifully backed up alll my
files on the new drive so i could clean up the old one & add stuff back in
later, right??? riiiiiiiiiight.
i used nero backitup & was foolish enough to make a compressed backup, which
nero does as nco files. now i have all my stuff backed up & inaccessible,
because i cant figure out for the life of me how to uncompress the files.
any ideas out there?

If nero created the files, why cannot nero restore them?

More importantlly, don't rely on a program such as Nero for backup.
Use, e.g., Ghost 10, Acronis True Image 9 or Retrospect.

I agree. If you use commercial software to backup AND COMPRESS your
backup, be prepared to see proprietary methods used. FYI you should
have tried a small test backup first to see what the outcome was going
to be.
Listen to me, years ago I backed up a clients datbase with a dos based
evaluation package, then realized it didn't come with the restore
component. I was really smarter $300.00 USD later.

if it hurts... take a pill!
