installing a cigarette lighter

i've wanted to run one of those 12v power converter that gives out 110v
power for running regular appliances in my car. i don't have a
cigarette lighter which would make the whole thing simple. I first have
to install one. can i wire it directly to the fuse box ? how do i do
this?
