reset "Service" light on '88 240?

My fairly recently acquired '88 240DL (B230F engine, non-turbo) turned on
the "Service" dashboard light yesterday. The owner's manual says it just
comes on every 5,000 miles to "remind" you to have the car serviced
(presumably, oil change, etc.) Since I do my own routine maintenance, I'd
like to reset the service indicator -- can anyone tell me how it's done,
or do I have to spend actual money to have a shop do it (or just ignore
the light)?

Remove the panel under the steering wheel 3 Black clips they twist off
reachup to the speedometer head there is a lever between the 80 & 85 mph area
on the back of the speedo head just push the lever that's all

The 240s I have worked on all had a little black box hung off the back of the
instrument cluster. Under the cover is a little reset button. Push it and
the light goes out.

As an alternative to crawling under the dash, you can put a generous piece of
electrical tape over the light. Not exactly elegant, just easy. 8-)

remove the left side underdash panel. then reach up behind the speedo, use
your left thumb to push the little lever (1" long) up. this should reset the
lite, which will come on every 5k miles to tell you to change the oil.
