I'm thinking of installing VX cam in my '90 740, with B230F engine and LH2.4
injection, but I'm concerned about loosing low to mid range torque as
compared to my original M cam. Has anyone had any experience with the
performance of VX cam? It'd be great if I can see a power / torque curve of
the B230 engine with M cam and VX cam....

Will,
I put a VX3 in my '88 240 a couple of years ago before a trip from San
Diego to Boise, going through mountains has never been so much fun. Very
noticable difference, well worth the money. I have an automatic and the
power band of the cam comes on right about 2500 rpm, just about right for
spirited driving, really fun from 3500-5000.

VX3 is basically a VX cam but is retarded 3 degrees, from what I've read...
wouldn't VX give slightly better performance than VX3?
I don't really know THAT much about camshafts... but I'm trying to learn.

This is true, the change in lobe timing moves the power band down the rpm
range making the cam a little more automatic freindly, there is no change in
the overall performance. For turbo cars some people use an adjustable gear
to give even more low end, I fiind the cam pulls just fine without it.
Cheers, Peter.
