It's one thing for government to tell us when we should START getting

The problem we see here is that the AMA, or somebody, came out and said that
women get screened too early. The problem that presents is since government
is getting poised to take over health care, they will disallow screening
until some guideline's benchmark comes along. If a doctor tells a patient at
20 that she should get screened, she should get screened.
Men don't generally get prostrate trouble until after 40, but some get it as
early as 30 and most never get it. But if the guideline says the screening
isn't needed until a certain age, then those that fall below that age will
have to pay for the procedure or not get it at all.
Women don't generally develop breast cancer until into their 50's, but in
the past we (doctors) told them to have mamograms starting at 40 so they
could develop the baseline from which to detect the cancer growing before it
gets out of hand. If the guideline says that mammograms aren't necessary,
then there will be women that get to an advanced stage of breast cancer
before the first mammogram is done, and by then it will be too late --
maybe.
If the government was going to set the guideline, it should set it early
rather than late. The problem with this position is that it is very costly
to do these tests on people that will never get the disease in the first
place, but the government will want to catch those that will get it and
catch them early.
This is just one of the many reasons why government does not belong in the
health care business.

the bands Open Bar.
They used to around here, but ONE BAND has erased that policy! Everyone
but the pedal steel player is an alcoholic, and I used to play with the
guitar player. At the end of the night, he owed the bar more than he made!

the band sounds so remarkable. That's a rule. Whoever breaks that rule finds

Funny thing is, every band I've had that plays note for note draws people,
but the bands I've had that had a mediocre guitar player, hacked our way
through song like a garage band, and got drunk as hell gathered the
largest number of people! I don't *get it*!
But, then again, you did ask me what kind of a podunk I lived in...
