Israel got its first real taste of the Arab spring Sunday as tens of
thousands of Palestinians and their supporters amassed on its borders to
protest its creation 63 years ago – an event they refer to as the
"nakba," or catastrophe. Ten people were killed and hundreds injured as
some protesters attempted to breach Israel's borders and clashes broke out
with Israeli security forces.

The unprecedented protests, fueled by both a spirit of uprising and a
moribund peace process, have reignited Arab-Israeli tensions over Israel's
sovereignty even as Palestinians are pressing for international
recognition of their own sovereignty at the UN this fall.

Arabs – and perhaps their leaders, eager to deflect criticism of their
own regimes – are rallying to the Palestinian cause with the same fervor
that has toppled two presidents and caused several regimes to teeter.

Here, try this: why does Obama hate Israel?

I don't think he hates Israel, so I can't answer that one. I *do* think he
expects Israel to break the stalemate that's been in place for almost half a
century, and that's not unreasonable. No other entity in the region has the
stones to compromise, apparently.

From what I read from Obama, the only way Israel can "break the stalemate"
is to give back Palestine.

I've heard nothing from Obama which backs up your "perception" that he
thinks Israel should "give back Palestine". Maybe you can explain where you
got that from. Saying "from Obama" is not a valid answer. We need more
details than that.

I already thought for myself, just before teaching Steampunk that Obama has
said or done nothing which backs up his claim.

Maybe you and he should be roommates. You both "hear things". You could save

Are you really that thick? Do you listen to what the man says, or watch
what he does? Everything about him pertaining to Israel reeks of
Antisemitism. He snubbed them when he became President, and then went on a
tour of the Arab world. Have you heard the term "Arab Spring"? I'd suggest
you do some reading and find out about it, because or President is behind
it 100%.

And if anyone needs teaching, it's you, since you seem incapable of
actually understanding what people say and do. Obama says volumes about
what he thinks about Israel in his handling of the country.

I ask again: is this man a twit, a troll, or just a brick?

That was a carefully calculated move to inform the Israelis of the fact that
they're a country, not a religion, and that it's time for them to consider
new ideas. Someone told you to think anti-semitism was involved. You should
stop listening to that "someone".

That's a good thing. Explain why you have a problem with the concept of an
"arab spring".

The world does not revolve around Israel. It's just a country like any
other.

In that you actually hear the person say the words for himself, rather
than get it third hand from a reporter who puts his spin and what he wants
you to believe in the mix.

Au contraire, mon ami. I *CAN* think for myself; I don't have to run to

So:

"third hand"?

In what way is newspaper information "third hand"?????

You'd better answer this question in detail or this thread will go on for

Correct. It won't, because you made a mistake. Non-TV news is no more "third
hand" than what you watch on TV. In fact, what TV reporters read is MORE
likely to have been written and/or heavily edited by someone else.

Did you see it's latest response? TV news is third hand, so newspapers are
better. The idea of actually hearing the words from the person uttering
them flew right over it's pointed little head! :)
