I am trying to remove my oil pan on a 22 RE engine 4X4 and don't have
enough clearance to pull it out. Please tell me what I need to do to get
this off. Thanks

Pat,
Jack the front end (not the frame) enough to stretch the suspension a few
inches, not enough to lift the tires off the ground, then wiggle the pan
out. Cursing a little seems to help.

The steering linkage has to be disconnected and also you need to remove the
crossmember. Hope this helps. Good luck.

1.Drop all the pan bolts
2.Take the 4 bolts out that hold the engine mounts to the frame.
3. Jack up the engine slightly. ( I used the lip between the engine and
trans for the jack point).
4. Pull the pan down as far as it will go
5. Reach in between the pan and the block and remove the 4 bolts that hold
the oil pick up tube, let tube drop into the pan
6.wiggle and tilt pan out the front of the truck (easier if the radiator and
fan are out)
7. Sit back and have a beer (or several) and rejoice in your mechanical
skill
8. Ponder how hard it is to get the pickup tube bolted back on (it is doable
but a real pain in the ass)
Hope this helps,
Rich
