I'm trying to find out if the 1MZ-FE in my 2003 Camry SE has VVT-i or not.
I've seen it mentioned in some auto reviews (but not the Camry) as having
VVT-i, but on the Toyota website, they show VVT-i for the 4 cylinder only.
Anyone know for sure? If the engine does have VVT-i, where is a definitive
source (eg. website, etc.)

From most of what I have read, it looks like you are right. However, I have
a friend that insists that if these engines used two different head
assemblies (one with VVT and one without) that they would have different
engine designations - wouldn't both be 1MZ-FE. Do you know of any official
website (Toyota or Lexus preferably) that addresses this?

According to Alldata , the 2002 Lexus ES300 V6 is referred to as the
V6-2995cc 3.0L DOHC MFI engine. the 2002 Toyota Avalon V6 is referred to as
the V6-2995cc 3.0L DOHC (1MZ-FE) MFI. Both engines have VVTi technology. I
think the Toyota/Lexus V6 Engines with VVTi are 1MZ-FE as well since the
engines are virtually the same except for VVTi. The other Lexus V6 engines
are inline models and thus, do not have the same designation.
