98 camry ABS light

Moms 98 I think Camry has the ABS light on. I was wondering if ther is any
way to troubleshooot this thing. I really hate to take it to the dealer for
something stupid.

sure you can.

turn of ignition

in engine compartment flip open lid from data link connector
remove shorting pin.

use a U-shaped piece of stiff wire (1/2 a paper clip) to connect
terminal Tc with terminal E1

Turn the ignition switch to on , but don't start the engine

count the number of flashes of the ABS light to get the error code

Codes go from 11 to 62 with a pause between 1st and 2nd digit.

tell us the flashing faultcode and I will lookup the corresponding fault.

If it flashes code 62 or the light stays on its is a computer problem.

Don't forget to remove the jumper and replace the shorting pin if it was
removed.

Jocko.
Fairly easy problem.
Code 35 = open circuit right front wheel speed sensor.
could be a corroded connector, busted speed sensor or broken wire
in cable going to the magnetic pickup.Also compare the sensor to
toothed wheel gapsize of the good left front wheel.
