Hi,
A friend has a '98 Legacy wagon and would like to lift an
inch or two for more clearance. Something like the outbacks
has. Would a simple twist of the torsion bars on four
corners and a four wheel alignment would do it?

Thanks,
Shane

Legacy's don't have torsion bars so this wouldn't work very well!

Longer springs wouldn't work as you would need longer shocks too

Sorry for not being very helpful

You can get the Outback's clearance via a Scorpion lift kit/springs:

(scroll a bit)

(Scorpion site)

I thought that Legacy and the Legacy Outback Wagon has
both front and rear independent suspension. I'm confused,
does the Legacy has the IFS and IRS with springs, instead
of torsion bars? I have an Explorer and it has IFS with
torsion bars.

Thanks for the info about the kit. I'll pass that info to a
friend.

Legacy's upto 1998/9 have independent suspension allround consisting of
Macpherson Struts and Coilsprings,
from 1998/9 they have the same front suspension but multilink rear
suspension with coilsprings
