That's Athens, GA's finest ... Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson harmonising
on vocals, backed by Fred Schnieder and Keith Strickland. Collectively,
the B52's.

That's a great tune.
You guys may think I'm full of crap, but as recently as two weeks ago I had
privately thought that would be a good background track for various video
clips of Soobs, including flying WRC Imprezas, Outbacks barging through the
snow and up mountain passes, and also street/normal road shots. Let's face
it, the cars can do damned near most anything.
Now if they'll just steal the theme "all-wheel drive = one world drive",
I'll wait for my check from marketing.
heh
Over the years, Nissan has done a really good job in excellent background
music without much more than imagery in their commercials <I recall the b&w
version of the Maxima in a high speed power slide on what appeared to be the
bonneville salt flats> which had a track from either Seal / "Crazy" or The
Smiths / "How Soon Is Now" prominent in the commercial.
I vote for music instead of Martina.

"Roam" by the B-52s.

And you may say to yourself "Well -- how did I get here?"

Yeah right.
hehe... How DID I get here? Since we're on the topic of music and cars,
the line in that song "And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large
automobile" always made me grin when I drove an '85 Crown Victoria.

Another good one I saw recently - not in NZ - was 'Driving away from home'
by Its Immaterial
When I bought my XT6 back in 1989 (yes, I still own it!) Subaru was
running an ad for it using Ritchie Valens' "La Bamba"! It was cool!
Gorgeous black XT6 launching over dirt roads and what not. Although
you (obviously) couldn't see her, the commercial portrayed a little
old lady doing all the driving. Anyone else remember that? I seem to
be the only one in my XT newsgroups.
