I use the one ton for just what it was made for hauling and towing and it
doe's a mighty fine job of it too. It has a flat bed so I don't worry about
scratching when loading. The last time I took it to the dump the guy at the
gait said I shouldn't bring such a beautiful truck to the dump. I told him I
took good care not to abuse it but used it as it was intended to use.

My very first Studebaker, I still have from 1976: A white 1964 Daytona 4 dr
sedan, awaiting restoration.

Now for the projects, finished and unfinished.

Big Bertha; 1963 8E45E Diesel 195" wb.
Moby Grape; 1966 Commander 4 dr sedan. (Late year production)
1966 Commander 4 door. (This was supposed to be a parts car for Moby Grape,
but was way too nice to part out!)
1965 Commander 4dr. This is a familiar car to many at SDC meets. It the
one I've been driving to meets the most often, is turquoise in color.
1964 Daytona convertible. Sharing silent company with my 1964 Daytona 4 dr
sedan in covered storage.

No kidding? I'm serious Bob, I could understand if it was used on the beach
or parked adjacent to it for extended periods of time or something like
that, but is there that many? The reason I'm asking is because I was spoiled
by the Lark from Pat. I don't want any more rust buckets, and if I ever buy
anything else it's gonna be from out there somewhere. It sounds like a GREAT
reason to be in the SDC and tap a brother member to look at something before
ya buy it, EVEN in CA. Thanks Bob.

The only one we have right now is the
1963 Cruiser, she runs and drives but needs work be be driven every day,
hopefully we will find someone to fix the oil leaks and replace all the
bushings, other than that she drives pretty good. Have a trunk full of neat
stuff for it (four barrel manifold, carb, delco dist with Mallory uni-lite,
ect) and a stache of nice body parts from George King..
We sold the 1964 Avanti (Black Beauty) to a nice insurance guy in Arvonia,
VA..
The daily driver for now is the 1987 Mercedes 300DSL Turbo Diesel..She just
turned over 250K at thanksgiving and the 1999 Trooper 4X4 only gets driven
on trips or inclimate weather..Hoping to replace the Black Beauty once we
get our new house project done....
John Winn, Austin TX
PS, does anyone have any pics of the 1963 Cruiser body style done in two
tone? Yeah I know it's not correct but this is not a show car..We want to
fix it up to drive and make it fun..Been thinking of black over coral..Maybe
just a black top but not sure yet. Also been toying with white over red or
reversed..Dunno..The car has red interior....

I thinned out the herd years ago.

Still have:
1955 Champion Deluxe Ultra Vista 4 door, with automatic drive.
It is nice though. While I don't like to have stuff judged anymore,
The last time out it got 386 out of 400 points. At the nationals
in 2000 I got 374 out of 400, with a couple of since-corrected
deducts.
Owned for 28 years.

Since it is more fun just to drive them, I have a 1963 Cruiser with
289
stick & overdrive, to use as a summer driver and tour car. Lots of
bondo,
flat sheet metal, screws and plastic roofing tar. Looks good at 20
feet, but is not. Car was about to be junked, so I adopted it. Owned
for 10 years.

Out of a total of 28 Studebakers once owned, all at different times,
many are still in S.D.C.

I have quite a bit of memorabilia and related toys to take up where
the fleet of cars left off <g>.

some more)...
...1963 Avanti R-2 with air and Halibrands. Soon going in for
mechanical refreshing after several years in storage.

I have an 1850 Studebaker wheelbarrow with a small block Chebby engine in it.
No matter what they say, it's my wheelbarrow and I like it that way. <G>

1960 Hawk, stock as the day she was born on 7/7/60 and my sunny-days-only
driver.

I have only the one, Princess, a '64 GT Hawk. She was a Super Hawk
when she came off the line and lost all the good engine parts when she
was restored in the early 70's. I am now in the process of rebuilding
a 289 to R2 specs that will replace the 259 that she has now.

I'd love to drive these cars on a daily basis...the child safty seat
law in Pennsylvania has ended that for the time being. Max (15 months
old) rides either in a '97 Subaru Legacy Wagon or a 2002 5.9L Durango
with a tow package. I'm his designated driver.
