I can't understand why the NG doesn't pick back up. "Anything goes"

The newsgroup of old got pretty wild when in it's 'prime'...
Even with all the poop flying around, there was still a TON of great
information exchanged. It seems that even in the middle of the wars
opposing sides would take time out to put their heads together and
answer technical questions.
Then the fight would go on....
The forum would make you laugh and it could make you cry...
And it could make you boil.....
It was never boring or censored....
