You are welcome here but BEWARE...this is a dangerous place..<G>
There is no moderator to step in and turn on the lights should a
monster appear in the darkness...or step out of the SDC closet....

Danger could be my middle name, but it's not, it's Michael <g>. I
thank you for your welcome and warning, and I understand there is no
moderator to protect me, (even if it's from myself ! ) Sounds like my
kinda place :-)
I've brough my own lead light, is that OK?

Turn on the light and proceed at your own risk...
Lots of knowledge here and many egos...but can also be lots of fun,
aggravation, exasperation, etc...hmmm...like the forum?...but without
the heavy hand to set yo' butt on the straight 'n narrow...
Just a shell of it's former glory at the moment but there is always
the chance it will RISE UP out of the ashes and fly the Phoenix once
again!....
or maybe not..<G>.....

Back in 1965 Harry Barnes wrote " To promote good fellowship and pride
in ownership among studebaker drivers everywhere "...do any of you
know who harry was ?..he was the president of the newly formed
SDC ,this is printed on my 1965 member card..it also states "pride in
ownership and safety in operation "....what the devil happened to the
core of this club?I am all for a little fun but I see some things here
in print that should just stay in the pee brain from which it came.If
you want to truly be a member of the SDC,as it was intended, then work
to change this forum .The rest of you should start your own club/
forum...call it what you want , even the SDC bashers club, dont
care...just have a little humanity....things have changed so much in
this club it sickens me....recently I suggested the SDC change its
name to the "widow chasers " as I saw some of the big wigs ( or they
think so ) come here to New England trying to buy a couple of 31
presidents...now you know who you are....allright ,now I am doing what
you all have been doing ....hows it feel to be on that end....this
club has problems from the top down , but most of the BS is at the
top...very helpful they are,if its what they want...I wont leave the
club because of a couple of yoyos with no integrity at all...as for
those widows, they know who you are, they wont return your calls....oh,I
forgot to mention,I bought the 31 roadster you wanted.....this note is
not directed at George(.I dont know him )..at least not
specifically. Some of us still have pride in ownership and do promote
good fellowship in all aspects of our lives...I am Sean O
Bennett, still own greatgrandads 21 sp six...plus a couple of president
8s

Sean, just for clarity, the Newsgoup here has little do to with the
SDC.

And just for the heck of it, George owns a rather nice survivor '38
Commander sedan. It was owned by Harry Barnes for years. Harry
actually drove the car from Long Island to South Bend for the '69
National meet. I wrote about the car in the December, '09 Turning
Wheels. We both know who Harry was.

Seems that Sean stepped in from another planet..but that's OK, even
aliens are welcome here.
I have no idea what he is talking about as far as widow chasers
here..possibly he has this group mixed up with one directly tied to
the SDC...the FORUM instead of this...which is the NEWSGROUP or
alt.autos.studebaker. Or perhaps Sean is starting the new years
celebrations a little early?<G>
For the record, Sean, this group has been around way longer than the
SDC forum. Some people (me included) are returning after getting
tired of the domination of that group by a few.
And I will warn you, if you toss poop on this forum there is nobody
here to say 'play nice'....expect some poop to come back in your
direction. As far as bashing the SDC, I am not here for that and I
doubt most others are either although obviously there are some who
do. Maybe YOU are looking for someone to 'bash'...
Once again, if you think this group has just started for the sole
purpose of undermining or trashing SDC , you are sadly mistaken and
need to do your homework.
Yes Sean, we know who Harry Barnes was. Matter of fact, from your
little post I'll wager we know a lot more about 'ol Harry than you.

Yep, I do. Met him in the early '80s, but have a family connection
that goes back to the '60s. Harry frequented the family Studebaker/
Packard/Mercedes dealership in Merrick Long Island. When my father and
uncle were closing the dealership up in '69 (they had taken on Toyota
and Datusn in '66) to come to NC, they gave Harry all the pre-war
parts Studebaker & Packard parts. My dad said "......we loaded up
Harry's pre-war Studebaker 4-door sedan with parts.....". This very
well may have been the '38 Commander that Harry owned, that Matthew
has been posting about over on the dark side forum :-)

Yes, Paul, from all the 'evidence' and verification that Matthew has
collected, it is the same car and the one I have owned now for over
ten years. Right down to the crooked front tag holder that aggravated
me for a long time until I took a long pipe and gave it an 'attitude
adjustment'...

I still can't believe that I spent hours researching that car,
ultimately discovering it WAS Harry's. All because of a stupid oil
change decal from Bellmore, NY... <G>

BTW George. I got ahold of the "Coccaro Bros" that I emailed you
about. It's not the same bunch that had the service station 40 years
ago.. They knew nothing of it.

need to bash someone is a good one on your part but a waste of my
time.George , I want to thank you for correcting me with respect to
the Forum and this group...I am glad you dont know of the widow
chasers and apoligize to any here that think I am suggesting they
are...they know who they are( I have told them face to face ) , I will

Welcome.....
This place is like Cheers, but with a crabass bartender that can't
throw anyone out, and an owner that's never here...
