My girlfriend has had about enough of her '92 Saab 900s (maybe 9000s?)
factory installed alarm. It automatically alarms when the doors lock and
likes to go off on the smallest of bumps and rattles. I poked around a
bit but couldn't find a way to disable it. Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Justin
If your alarm is similar to the one on my '93 9000, then it's very
easy to disable the motion detector while keeping the alarm enabled
for forced entry. When you exit the car and go to lock the door, turn
the key to the locked position and hold it in the locked position for
about three seconds. You should hear the alarm 'chirp' once to
indicate that the motion sensor has been temporarily disabled. The
motion sensor will be active again the next time you lock the car
*unless* you hold the key in the locked position as I described. It's
also possible to program the alarm to always leave the motion sensor
disabled, and the sensitivity of the motion sensor can be adjusted as
well.

Only if they broke into the car first to get to the fuse panel in the
glove box...
If you do pull the fuse, you'll also disconnect other functions. In my
car, it also provides power for the radio, motorized antenna and SCC.
If your alarm is similar to mine, it's far easier to simply use the
lock switch to disconnect the motion sensor (see my previous post,
<36d28d53...@netnews.worldnet.att.net>)
Had a friend with the same problem -- Find the siren (under the hood) and
pull the wire off it -- That way, whether or not the alarm is freaking out,
you hear nothing.

Unless, of course, the ignition cutoff kill the engine...
Thanks for the ideas,
Justin

Are my posts disappearing into the ether? Sheesh, that's exactly what
I wrote two days ago in <36d28d53...@netnews.worldnet.att.net>.
