Some time ago I saw the US movie 'Throw momma from the train' with Billy
Christal and to my surprise at some point in the movie he drove a SAAB
96 (and crashed it!! ##@?**!)

In the Swedish TV series 'The death of a juror' one of the characters
used a brown SAAB 95 (1979 color)

In the Dutch TV series 'Black Snow' one person drives a blue SAAB 96. I
believe this series was sold to other TV networks too.

Last year a part of Sweden suffered from floods. In a TV newsflash this
flooding was shown, with at one point the unmistaken roof of a SAAB 96
floating by.

Also last year police in Finland experimented with a 'harpoon' fixed to
a police car, to stop other cars. In a newsrelease they were seen trying
this out on a light green SAAB 96.

Does anyone out here know of other such instances where SAAB cars are
involved?

Diagnosis Murder, in the later episodes, Dr Mark Sloan drives a
NG900 convertible.

Seinfeld had a classic 900T convertible, then he had a NG900SE V6
convertible which was stolen
by his Saab mechanic because Jerry didn't take good enough care of it. :))

Later episodes he has a 97 or 98 900SE T convertible.

I recall Albert Brooks driving a 900 turbo at the beginning of a movie ("Lost
in America," I believe, in the mid 1980s?) in which he and his wife decide to
sell everything and use their nest egg to tour America. The wife gambles away
the nest egg in Las Vegas.
Getting back to the car, the first few moments feature Brooks bargaining over
the phone with a Mercedes salesman, as he believes he's about to get a
promotion and wants to reward himself with a Mercedes. I remember thinking:
Why would you give up the Saab Turbo?

How 'classic' can a 900 be, compared with a 96 (95, 97)? :-)

In the movie "As good as it gets", they're driving a '900 convertible.

In "Grosse Pointe Blank", minnie driver's character is driving a
'900 (convertible i think).

In the US: In the very popular "Seinfeld" series, just discontinued, Jerry
drives a 900 convertible and one of the episodes actually revolves around
the car. In "Diagnosis Murder," Dr. Sloan also drives a 900 convertible.

SAAB Fans:
check out the movie "Moving" with Richard Pryor, came out in the
early '80's. There is a classic black 900T in it, gets kinda beat up in
the end though.

The 'Deep Impact' was packed with all kinds of SAAB's. Not only one of the
main characters drove SAAB, but there were several others in various scenes.
Wonder how much SAAB had to pay for all that screen time...

Well at least more 'classic' than the Saab GM Opel 900.

Oh no!

Now the NG900 is an "old model" compared to the 9-3, so I think
the NG900 is the "classic" now. Which must make the 79-93 900
the 'antique'?

Just kidding. :)

Paul Newman movie The Prize (1963), an old SAAB (93? 92?) is seen parked
in front of a hotel.

The Fly (199?), Geena Davis drives a white 99, a bit of rust can be seen
nearby side mirror :).

In as good as it gets, Jack Nicholson and crew drive long distance in
what appears to be a convertable 900.

City of Angels: Meg Ryan drives a silver SAAB.

GI Jane: I don't remember what color, though.

Object of My Affection: Jennifer Aniston's sister drives a yellow
convertible in the Hamptons.

I can't believe that no one caught the black SAAB 900 SPG in an old James Bond movie -
Thunderball was it? I can't remember now damn it! - It was on TV the other day and I've
been meaning to rent it just for that scene - I think they roasted it too - poor car...

Also, the movie with Dudley Moore about the Ad company? I even have the quote on my web
site (webhome.idirect.com/~kerrhens) - 'If you don't drive a SAAB you belong in a mental
institution'....some wise words!! - one of the nuts dreams of owning an old 99, and when
he gets one falls in love with it all over again when it won't start...a wonderful
commentary on the growth of SAAB engineering (except for 9000's I guess...)

Doesn't anyone watch Seinfeld? The guy drives a number of 900's, depending on the year -
the man loves Porsches too - good taste through and through!!

Dont recall the name of the movie, but it starred Richard Pryor and
him getting someone to drive his Saab Turbo cross country. There was
a series of mishaps and the car arrived a bit "customized". A very
funny movie.

There was another one that I cant remember the name of either in which
Richard Gere was an upscale real estates salesman. He drove a red 900
Turbo convertible.

Oh!!! But you all forgot that good old movie "JUNGLE FEVER". I believe it
was Westley Snipes that drove a beautifull convertible 900. I have to rent
it to check make sure of the model. But do go and chek it out, the is
through the whole movie.
Someone mentioned a movie with Richard Prior, that's right they drove a SAAB
that looked like out of "MAD MAX" after they got done with it.
