I have a '83 euro-spec 928 which has been converted to US emissions
standards (sort of). However, I am not sure if everything is hooked up
right, (and the carbon canister is just sitting loose in the engine
compartment with an open port.) Can anyone tell me exactly how this
canister is supposed to be connected up to the vehicle? I suspect that
the open port on the canister should not be open, and wonder if the
job was done right at all. I am concerned about vacuum leaking out
from the open port on the canister, and the fact that it is just loose
inside the engine bay. It really can't move too much, but it looks
shoddy.
I would ultimately like to remove it altogether, but am not sure which
of the lines leading to it can be removed or plugged entirely. I do
not have my shop manuals yet, so some of the stuff in there I am not
entire up to speed on. If I could find two vaccum line diagrams of
both the euro and us versions I could probably figure out how things
should be and make any necessary corrections. If anyone could give me
any information regarding this subject it would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Here's a url where you see a little image of it.
