Hey all,

I Solved my starting issue,
Its the the ECU, its dead!!

1) I found a used ECU for 425.00 with warranty, is that a good price?

To save some $$$ wich I dont have I want to replace it myself, Im told
its in the passenger foot pannel. Thats all I know about it.

2)If anyone can help with some info or links on how to replace it?

Again im a ROOKIE to the 944 or cars for that matter, so thank you in
advance!

P.s Silver Bullet,
I hope you do stick around and not leave us Rookies behind.

Thanks in advance,
Psyphen

on my 85.5, which I presume is much like the 86, the computer is underneath
a wooden board between the passanger's feet and the firewall. remove the
carpet, remove two (as I recall) plastic screws, remove the board. There is
a large metal box - it has one (or more?) cables going into it - disconnect
cables, unscrew box, replace.

But, how do you know it's the ECU? it may be worth your time to spend a few
hours with an oscilloscope or meter tracing and troubleshooting it - mine
had a bad transistor which I changed (but I was the cause of the fault)

Check out the ads in "Panorama" the Porsche Club magazine. I seem to
recall there was an outfit that sold rebuilts for about $350. I think
it's Vertex. Not near my mags so I can't check.
