After the engine has fully warmed up, it will drop to just above the
first mark at idle and maybe jitter and as you rev the engine the oil
pressure will track the rpm until about 3K where it will be at the top
or close to it.
When the engine goes above 3.5k or so the relief valve kicks in and
drops the pressure to between 4 and 4.5 and as rpm goes higher it will
stay rock steady.
According to the Porsche folks, THIS IS NORMAL FOR THE CAR,
Note: exactly where the low and high (after relieve valve opens) points
are will vary slightly with the weight of the oil you use, and the
particular condition of your engine but will be approx. as written,

Thanks for the info. It has started looking a little low only in the
lsat year or so. The gauge used to stay at the 5 mark and dropped to
about 2 to 3 at idle depending on temp. Real hot days it is around 2 at
idle and jumps around a some.
I suspect the relief spring might be getting a little weak after all
these years.
