Brake Proportioning Valve

Car is '72 GM A-body with disc/front - drum/rear. Rear drums upgraded to
Ford 11 inch drums with larger wheel cylinders. Now experiencing excessive
brake travel. Do I need an adjustable proportioning valve for the front
circuit to reduce the disc line pressure? Presently, both MC outputs feed
into a stock proportioning valve before continuing on to front and rear
brakes.
