I have recently bought a 307 HDi but was annoyed to find out it had no rear
speakers. Can anyone tell me where I can source exact fit speakers and at
what cost ?

Aren't they multiplexed on the 307 ?

If so, you can't fit rear speakers without replacing the ENTIRE audio
system, wiring and all.

It must have rear speakers, if not, get down to your dealer.

I believe the Style model has 4 speakers and all the rest have 4 speakers
plus 2 tweakers.

What exactly does multiplexed speakers mean? Are Peugeot determined to stop
people modifying the audio system?

Paul.

If that follows the logic of the 206, then there will be 2 real speakers in
the front doors and 2 tweeters (that hardly count!)
Many 206 LX were supplied in the UK with no rear speakers, yet have velour
seats, air con and electric everything. It is just penny pinching.

Control, communication and interface wiring is multiplexed. Analogue audio
would not be.

You will get better sound if you put replacement high quality speakers in
the front with an external amplifier, but then you will expose the quality
limits of the factory headunit.

http://www.mobileaudio.com/rac-faq/ section 5.5

Rear speakers are best quiet or absent as above.

style has 4 speakers(inc tweeters) all rest have 6 if your car isn't a style
then the speakers are already fitted but not wired in(is there a fader
option on your radio)your dealer can sort this out!

Question--Do you have a remote stalk to control the radio-in front of
the wiper stalk? If not you have a misbuild. Peugeot ran out of stalks
and rear speakers, and the dealers had to fit them. They should have
picked it up on PDI. Go to your dealer and he should fit, free of
charge, a remote stalk, two tweeters, two rear speakers and a short
loom to the radio to connect the rear speakers in. I think only the
base model has two speakers, but don't quote me on that!

Multiplexing is using one or two single wires, and lots of clever
electronics, to transfer all signals around the car. There's no rear speaker
cables as such - the sound is shared on the same wire as the brake lights
etc. etc. You'd need to replace the headunit with a normal non-multiplexed
one, and then run speaker cable from it, to the rear of the car. I can't
remember whether the 307 is multiplexed or not - the 607 is.

Ah. Just wondered because the speakers in my 306 were easy as piss to wire
up. But they did need to use awkward screws with a star shape head. Luckily
I found a flat head screwdriver that would grip it.

Paul.
