Hi,

On my new 206 GTI there is a button behind the Handbrake, on the same console
as the brake itself. Its a small circle with like waves radiating out.

There is no mention of it in the manual, it does not seem to do anything? Is it
for a model other than the GTI or what? It seems most odd they would fit something
that is useless, there is however one just like it next to it (behind it) which
is just a blanking cap, which leads me to believe its not just nothing as surely
they would have fit 2 blanking caps.

It does not seem to do anything :)

Anyone?

Thanks

Mike

Its a very useful button if you want to leave any animal or human! locked
in the car - it disables the movement sensor inside the car . Hold it in
and the Hazard big red button on the dash will come on and stay on.
You can then lock the car with hound or wife in and their movement wont set
your alarm off.

or if i am wrong its the ejector seat button

Mike

If it's anything like the one on the 106, you have to hold the button
down for 2 or more seconds, then the alarm LED comes on (wherever that
is on your dashboard) - what it does is disable the ultrasonic part of
the alarm only (so you can leave sunroof or windows cracked open
without the alarm going off). The alarm will still sound if you open a
door etc as it's triggered when the courtesy light is activated.

The alarm will reset itself the next time you set it unless you press
the button again.

I'd be surprised if this isn;t described under the "alarm" section of
your handbook.

Thanks all, it is there, its just not on the Quick Guide at the front, no mention
of it, I didnt know it was for the alarm so couldnt look it up :)

Thanks again.

Mike

PS, the 206 Manual is the worst manual I have ever had, its basic and the index
is 80% wrong :)

Pressing this button before you exit & lock the car, disables the alarms
ultra-sonic detector (automatically enabled when you unlock the car). Only
useful for people who leave pets in their car which jump around all over and
chew the seats!

Mike,

If you've had the stereo units replaced recently it would seem logical
to assume that the replacement units are 'new' and therefore 'post' w
reg, so maybe it's the newer units that have a problem. Are you sure
they're being replaced or are they just trying to bluff you? Do you
mark the units before they are 'supposedly' replaced? They could even
be interchanging them with other replaced defective units!

I have no idea what problems you're having with your units but if it's
any consolation the standard Clarion CD changer in my 206GTi has a
skippy fit every now and then, but ejecting the 6CD holder and
re-inserting it seems to cure the problem for some time. The Blaupunkt
radio/cassette unit seems to have a mind of its own - when starting
the car it sometimes switches itself off, still, I can live with that.
I don't think the sound quality from the Blaupunkt is very good, not a
patch on the Clarion system in my old Honda. Maybe they'll introduce a
high quality replacement that retains all the remote control and
console display functions, I think I would be tempted to purchase one.

Or if, like me, in summer you want to leave the sunroof tilted and the
windows open to help keep the car cool.
