Does anyone know the size of the door speakers on a 206 GTi? They're crap
and need to be replaced!

Any recommendations for new speakers?

Front: 16cm ~6' but you'll need some fairly flat ones or you won't get
any bass.

Rear: 13cm ~5' (?) anything you want. lots of room but don't expect too
much, its free air.

I run a DSL PS6 System in the front and i am really pleased with it. The
PS6 are just slim enough to fit the panels without having to cut
anything. I fitted the Mid/Low-Speaker in the original space and the
tweeter in mirror-corner. Sounds very good.

Eeeek! I had a look here
(https://secure.caraudiodirect.com/shop/acatalog/C_A_D_Catalogue_Component_K
its_314.html). I assume you meant DLS ;-)

They seem to be quite (as in very) pricey! Are they really worth the
money...?

Do you run a seperate amp or crossover, or are they simply plugged in to the
existing system?

Thanks for your info!

I think they are. They best point is that the PS-series ( Pro Slimline)
fits into virutally any car. AND thats the stuff thats is is used for
real car-hifi ( IASCA).

Right now I only power them through my Becker Monaco w/ CDC . No other
Amp yet. Crossovers come with the speaker set. The original crossovers
would be my best bet except you really now what you are doing and want
to tweak even a little more out of your speakers. (Frontstaging)
I've heared the the same system powered through a Genesis Compact Four -
Amp. and with an extra DLS Bass. -> WOW

I fitted a set of "cheapo" Speakers into a 206 a few days ago and I was
not really impressed.
1.) I don't like Coax-speakers anyway
2.) no sound stage at all
3.) no clear picture, just a swamp
4.) the new Blaupunkt had 4 x 40W but I couldn't really tell any
difference in volume or clarity. ( my becker has 4 x 15 and I only use
2x 15w !!!!!)
5.) the front system didn't quite fit.
I) you have to cut out the otherwise real good speaker fittings
or
II) the speaker will be held in place by the screws but not
quite be flat on the "rim" which leaves holes that vent air between the
fornt and the back of the speaker (you don't really want that).

anymore questions?

cheers,
Alex.

I put in some Kicker Impulse's , Had to cut away the plastic behind the
speaker to get them to fit. In my 106 I had some decent Pioneers (the ones
with the silver cone) They weren't too expensive and had good bass
especially for 13 cm speakers.

Oh well...glad to hear that you didn't spend £400 on a pair of speakers!

I'll keep looking. Thanks for the info!

it is 16 cm (6.1/4 ")

I just changed the speakers of my 305 , into a pair of pioneers
TS-E1675 , two way sys , can handle about 60 watts RMS( impuls power
can be 180 watts but i'm shure you wont go there), sounds nice,
detailed high, not to overdone bass stable mid and midhigh , does not
anoy my ears even @ higher levels ( have to because my pug is noisy)

they could do with an extra sub, as the response in from 30 to 60 Hz
is not going up as the levels rise, but that is merely as the speed
rises to so it is kind of lost in the car noise.

thy need a hole of 128 MM ( 5 ") and a depth of 59.5 (2.3/8 ")

they cost about 100 euro's, its not cheap but they sound good to a pro
sound engineer (me) and he is not easely satisfied.....:-)

you could also go for a pair of infinity's , expensive but good i
would buy them instead if it wasn't for me living in Amsterdam , damn
junkies

best regards

Marc

Ive just put some Pioneers into my doors (106), silver ones, most likely the
same ones moreorless, with the powerblade design. They are good I have to
say, good sound all the way through, and for the price you cant go wrong in
any way. The only problem was the installation, the old speakers were
riveted and required drilling out (rivets that is!) then the new speakers
needed their own holes drilled into the door to be properly mounted, but now
in they are great even with the standard radio cassette! which, incidently
will cost around 23quid to be taken out (impossible without violence) by a
peugeot dealer, a bit annoying but its the only way to get the annoying
thing out and get my new HU in (a Sony MD unit, got it for 150 new so quite
good deal really).
Oh the fun you have, just for some entertainment for the way to work and
such :)
