For the last 4 weeks I have been topping up my water with at least 2 pints
every week, I average about 500 miles a week and am sometimes caught in
traffic for lengthy spells, so I am not sure if this ammount of water top up
per week is normal. I cannot find any leaks anywhere either.
Any help if poss.
Thanks in advance.
T. T.

Absolutely abnormal. If you can not find any leaks, the radiator cap can be
faulty and lets the water out when under pressure. You may have a blown head
gasket, and the water seeping into the oil. If so, you will find thick white
goo in the oil filler cap.
Yet another possibility: Do you see a leak from the water pump with the
engine running?
Hope this helps ...

You definitely have a problem, I have never had to top up my 1999 406
between services.

I had this problem on my 1998 diesel, it was the water pump leaking
