I have a question about the sound system in the 307. I have a RD3 cd/radio
player (no changer) and I'm planning to connect a Sony Amplifier to it. I
pulled out the radio just to see where the wires are from before I start
cutting and removing what is not necessary. I came up with 2 questions:
1. Does anybody know how the remote control device behind my steering wheel
is connected to the radio? I can't find a wire on the radio, or is it
wireless? (less important)
2. Is there someone who has more knowledge about these RD3 radio's (i found
out they are from VDO). I checked on the VDO site but offcourse the model is
not listed. But, when I a opened a data sheet of another VDO radio, i found
out the connectors on the back are Similar and they are was also a Line Out
(cinch) on it. I only have to order an extra cable to convert it to the
cinch-connectors. Can somebody please confirm that this is true and that the
RD3 radio has a line out so i can order the cablekit.
Otherwise I will have to buy a new CD player with a line out.
best regards,
Timo.
1. the remote stalk doesnt require any extra wireing because of the MUX
system
2. althought the radio is equipped with ISO its still not the standard
ISO, and the Mini ISO ya referrering too has no extra option then only
the hooking up the cd changer.
I am not sure of theirs a remote on the RD3 i ll check that tomorrow.
but theirs no Line-out on it, you can get a amp that also have a high
power input so you dont need any line out.
The RD3 only have speaker out, no audio line out.
the RD3 has a +12V out which is useful for switching device on when unit
switch on, and also have a signal mute line.
the car itself provide +12V permanent, Ground and a 'semi' accessories +12V
into the RD3.
If getting a new unit you will need to get prober ACC and (light/dimmer)
somewhere else. display and stalk control wont work.

Hi Timo,
I've heard, that Blaupunkt sells an interface for their radios and the 307 in two weeks....
The remote control at the 307's wheel should be supported, but I don't know anything about the
board display.... I'll find that out with their customer service line tomorrow.
They have some nice mp3/cd player (ID3tag support, RW comp, CD text) with _very_ good fm tuners.
The design is a little bit old fashioned, but the quality is excellent.
