Hi,

Just bought a 205 XR (1998) which I understand has the TU3S engine. Am I
correct? Only problem is the engine is knackered and I am looking to replace
it...

Which other models have the TU3S 1.4 engine? Ideally I want one out of a
much newer car as I don't want to buy another engine that smokes like the
present one!!

Any advice would be VERY much appreciated,

TIA!

Ed.

You must be mistaken about the year.

I think that an XR would be a TU3. It was the XS that had the TU3S.
The TU3S has a different carb & so more power. A TU3S engine will be
marked K2A or some such, a TU3 will be marked K1A.

A Google search for say TU3S & K1A will reveal many web sites with
information about these codes, of varying accuracy.

If you replace a TU3 with a TU3S, then you would almost certainly have
to inform your insurance company.

Thanks - I have now realised that I have the TU3, not the TU3S.... I have
also learned that these engines suffer from valve stem seal wear.... I am
going to replace these and see if this stops the smoking - if not its a
recon engine that I need!

Thanks again. Ed.

Salut,

sait jamais.
