Nissan uses an entire tube of lock tight when they install the stock
knob at the factory. What we do here to remove the knob is take a cotton
terry towel and wrap it around the knob - then take a pair of channel
locks and twist like you have never twisted before (counter clockwise)
The stock knob will break about half of the time during this procedure:(

Now, regarding knobs: If you are planning to use one of the aftermarket
shiftknobs (MOMO, etc.) you should know that they do not work properly
on the 300. The stock knob weighs a lot to make the throw easier for
each shift. The shiftknobs that are available will not feel right at
all. They are light and are made for the small import market cars. Also,
the shaft on the shifter goes nearly all the way to the top of the stock
knob. The other knobs will sit up high.

We did make some custom knobs for the SMZ that were made with the stock
knob shaved and then covered in carbon fiber. Unfortunately - these are
all gone:( I doubt we will produce any more since the 300's are gone.

Sorry for such a long knob story!

Call me if you ever need anything for your Z:)
