I have a 2002 Maxima GLE, with a factory installed Bose stereo and 6-CD
changer. If I playing a CD and I brake or go over a bump, the left speakers
will short out. The sound will not return until I go over another bump or
accelerate. I've had the car in twice now, and they finally agreed to
replace the stereo. However, in the past two months, I have been give
various excuses as to why they still do not have replacement radio for me!
The latest story I was given, is that there is a problem with this stereo
and there is a backlog of customers waiting for replacement radios. Has
anyone else experienced this problem?

Regards,
Kathy

Thank you! Not only was that helpful for my issue, but it is the first time
I've seen the forum, and I like it alot. Already joined!

Kathy,

I have a 96 with a similar problem. When I would make a quick right turn, I
would lose the right channel. This was only an issue for the CD player
(in-dash, not changer) and not the radio or cassette player. One day this
happened and and I realized that the problem was a physical problem. My
thinking was that if (making a right turn) momentum forced something to the
left, trying to force something to the right would fix the problem. Since I
was already mad about this, I beat the right side of the console with my
fist. This solved the problem every time. Sometimes I would get an error
on the player. All I had to do is eject and reinsert. This is not a
recommendation, I am just telling you what worked for me.

Interestingly enough, this was more of a problem when I lived in Texas.
When I moved to PA a few years ago, I had the problem less frequently. I
moved to MA last year and can't remember the last time it happened.

Holy cow! I thought I was the only one! I have an 02 Max with the Bose
and it started doing the same thing. It was not just the CD player
though, but radio and tape as well. I thought it was just a loose speaker
wire, and checked around and couldn't find a single thing wrong. Then
after a few weeks of actually aiming for potholes to get the driver's side
speakers to come on, I took it to the dealer who told me the whole radio
needed to be replaced. It took a few weeks for the radio to come in, but
they replaced it in a few hours. No cost to me.

One strange thing, the new Bose system actually sounds much better than
the old one (and I mean before the speaker problem started). I used to
have to pump up the bass and treble (+2 and +1, respectively), but if I do
that now it's too much bass and treble. Maybe they incorporated a few new
fixes in the fixed model.
