Most of the time the car drives ok but sometimes when cruising between
50-100 mph the gearbox drops out of top gear and then back into top again
every few seconds. After a few miles it behaves itself again.
Occasionally the red gearbox warning light flashes on the dashboard but with
no apparent effect in gearbox operation.
These two snags happen at different times, i.e.the flashing light doesn't
happen at the same time as the top gear problem.
The car is serviced and has fresh oil in the gearbox. It does do a lot of
miles in a week and carries a lot of weight as well as occasional towing.
Thanx in advance for any ideas as to what's wrong with the thing.
