REAR subframe replacement

I`m just about to replace my rear subframe please tell any problems I
may have and any special tools I will need.
Any Parts you recommend eg. uprated bushes.

First things first, go out and blast all the bolts with WD40. Now come back
in and read the rest of the message.

Dependent on the age of the car the front four bolts may be seized into the
body. If in doubt chisel the heads off and pull the subframe off backwards
over the remains of the bolts. This should allow you to remove the remnants
hopefully without damaging the bdoy and requiring repair panels. Personally
I've only ever used standard bushes, the rear subframe is less prone to
movement than the front and therefore less affected by uprated bushes, but
what the heck they can't hurt and they aren't a significant expense.

As for special tools just make sure when removing the rear bolts that you
use a six point as opposed to a twelve point socket. This reduces the chance
of rounding the heads to almost zero and the worst that will happen is that
the bolts will snap.

Don't by a cheap subframe! I had horrible problems trying to get mine to
align. Also get the help of a strong friend! And don't take everything apart
if you are going to need the car in a day or two! Just in case... TVS
