hi all

does anyone know if i can marry up a 1000cc mini gear box to an mg metro
1300cc engine or has anyone got for sale and gear box off a mg metro 1300cc

Yes.
With the exception of some early (non synchro) boxes, all Mini manual
motors fit all Mini manual gearboxes.

Similarly, all Mini Auto motors fit all Mini auto gearboxes, but manual
motors on auto boxes and vice versa do not fit.

There are no Metro motors - only Mini motors in strange cars!

Well, there are Metro motors, but they're the ones that don't even look
like Mini motors - the larger ones.

Metros had various motors.

An A series or A+ motor in a Metro isn't a Metro motor, it's just a Mini
motor doing time until someone has a Mini ready to receive it.

A K series, or whatever the hell the other motor in a metro is, is a
"Metro motor", since it won't fit a Mini.

no graham all i was saying that if he dose get another box make sure it is a
a+ box as the earlier is slightly different i think it has something to do
with the gears that drive of the motor to the box OK

The difference between A & A+ is the transfer gears, the bearings on the
idler gear are larger on the A+ . When changing the gearbox get the matching
transfer gear housing.
