OK, so I'm obsessed with getting my hands on a Kabinenroller. Jim
Janecek points out that there aren't enough of these little gems to go
around, and that a replica might be a good option. (Plus the advantages
of a modern drivetrain)

After a little sleuthing, I uncovered the following info:
(sorry- I misplaced the website address of the chap in Holland on whose
site I found it, or I'd correctly attribute the source)
-----------------------------------------------------
TRI-TECH autocraft, the company that recently brought us the
Zetta 300 lssetta replica, has gone one stage further towards
complete bubble car domination by launching its latest
creation, the Schmitt KR Messerschmitt replica. Built to
exacting standards, the new machine has all the attention to
detail we witnessed on the company's earlier car. The Schmitt
has very similar construction to the Zetta, using a monocoque
main tub which is actually bonded to the basic ladderframe
chassis. Power comes from the Honda 25Occ or 40Occ
motorbike range complete with 6-speed gearbox. Tri-tech can
supply everything to complete a car to the superb standard of
the demonstrator and the basic kit comes in at a competitive
1450 Pond inclusive of VAT. If you are into such crazy
creations as this, then you'd better contact TriTech for some expert
counselling at Unit 32, The old Mill
Estate, School Lane, Bamber Bridge, Preston PR5 6SY,
Tel: 01772-468317. (UK).
---------------------------------

So, my question is: has anyone dealt with this company? Has anyone
attempted to import one into the US, or is someone in the process of
coordinating such an undertaking? After checking around with the
California Dept. Motor Vehicles, it would be registered as a motorcyle,
qualifying as "a 3-wheeled vehicle under 1500 pounds." Technically, in
this category it would require a helmet to drive, but there is
legislation pending to provide an exemption to this rule (heavily
supported by manufacturers of light electric vehicles such as the
Sparrow).

Anybody have any thoughts?

Regards,

Knute

I've sent a letter to the Tri-Tech folks for more info- I'll post
details after I receive their response.

what I want to know is.....

What does this have to do with making $50,000 in six weeks?

I thought this was a Spam-Only newsgroup.

Six weeks? What are you, lazy? If you signed on to my downline, you'd be
earning that every week, starting 12 days after you start.

BTW: I'm still waiting for my title to the Golden Gate to arrive. How
long does it usually take to transfer a bridge?

several months ago I left a message on their answering machine about info and
they sent me a very nice brochure; they seem like good people and I think
they sell nearly complete, if not complete cars as well as kits. I think I
added it up and at the time given the exchange rate it was ~$10k for either
the isetta or the 'schmitt.

this from memory, and hopefully the exchange rate will improve. $10k buys a
new Twingo...

OK, I'll bite. What's a TWINGO? (And yes, I'd still rather have the
Messerschmitt.) I rented the movie Brazil the other night to get
another look at one in motion, and was HORRIFIED that they set it on
fire. I hope it was only a stage prop! Silly heretics...

Knute

Some form of new Renault. Which ought to be enough to cause most any
sane person to run screaming in the opposite direction. Although, if
I could find a good Dauphine, I'd be tempted; they're kinda cute.

I have a Tri Tech Schmitt I bought back in 2000. I still have it. It runs great. I take it on the freeways.I really like it,Bernard Sampson

As you may be aware, TriTech are no longer trading.
I too like the Schmitt but is now outside my budget (or what the wife will allow me to spend) as one can only buy complete ones here in the UK (£10,000 plus).
Did you build your's yourself and therefore, do you have you any manufacturing plans of your car?
With the UK announcing today that there will be NO petrol or diesel cars sold in UK from 2040, I'd like to build a Schmitt and maybe prep it to be electric in the future.
