The car is still in warranty, so it looks as if I will have to make a
trip to the dealer. I'm not worried about the CD player as it can be
replaced, but is it possible I can get my CDs out without damaging
them any further?
BTW, is this a known problem?
Thanks.

Common problem on the IS series, I've experienced once in my past IS200,
using CDR.
Now in my Sportcross I avoid to use any CDR inside, as the owner manual said
(don't know why exactly this happens with CDRŠ)
First thing to do, is to take off the radio/CD fuse in the fuse box, get
the ignition on, then cut off, place the fuse again and re-start your car.
This will reset the Radio/CD unit and probably (99%) you will be able to get
back your CD's, pressing the unload button.
If this doesn't work try to apply a a small blow of fist on the right side
off your central dashboard, at the level off the CD charger (this works
sometimes).
Anyway, go to your dealer to change under warranty your CD player

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to let them take a look at it later
this week.
I'll get a loaner car, so they can keep my car for as long as they
need to.
Take care.

I spoke with my dealer today and they informed me they would swap out
the CD changer and mail me back the discs.
I am taking my car to them on Monday.
Were any of your discs damaged?
Thanks.
