I purchased my Elantra GT 6/2014 and it currently is sitting at just under 10k
miles. Since the beginning I have had issues with the clutch and it seems to
only be getting worse. The clutch engagement is very inconsistent and it can
be very difficult to get it to go into gear, mainly reverse. My upper gears
(4th, 5th and 6th) seem to be fine, it is only R, 1st, 2nd and 3rd that are
giving me issues. My main concern is the fact that I am either riding my
clutch or practically stalling it because the engagement is so inconsistent.
Sometimes it is very smooth and shifts perfectly as it should but this is only
about 50% of the time. I have heard all the Tiburon horror stories and have
read up on the many lawsuits and am hoping that this isn't related to that
issue. Has anyone else heard of similar issues on a vehicle that is newer with
relatively few miles? Also, this is not my first manual car. I have owned a
few and driven many and have never experienced something like this.

The good news is, it is still under warranty. Have you talked to the
dealer? Have they driven the car? That would be my first course of
action.

The first thing you have to do is bleed you clutch line. If that doesn't
work, the seals in your master cylinder is defective. Replace the seals
or the entire master cylinder.

If that is the case, the dealer should do that under the warranty. If
you do it, you could compromise the warranty.

It most definitely should have been repaired under warranty. The car
would not have gotten 100 feet from the dealer with a leaky clutch slave
cylinder.

A little over 10 years ago, Hyundai had issues with the dual mass flywheel
on its V6 engines in the Tiburon GT. When a family member brought his
Tibuoron to the dealer for clutch engagement issues while still (barely)
under warranty, they discovered that the hub area of the flywheel was
cracked and needed to be replaced along with the clutch plate. It took a bit
of doing at the time to convince the service manager that the flywheel was
not a wear item as was covered under the powertrain warranty. He still had
to pay for the clutch and part of the labor. During the repair, they removed
a delay valve in the slave cylinder that was part of the source for the
shifting problems on this car. No problems since.

I don't know if Hyundai still has clutch issues on its V6 engines, but it
may be worth the dealer removing the M/T and inspecting the clutch
components if there aren't problems with the hydraulics.

With a vehicle this new and under warranty, why are you here rather than
talking with your local Hyundai dealer?

Oops, I meant a leaky master cylinder - not that anybody cares. What the
heck - I care. :-)
